There are different strategies in search engine optimization & link building services. These strategies include link building, article writing, and directory submissions. Submitting to directories is one effective method for websites to increase the link building capacity. Moreover, submitting to directories is one way of establishing one’s website such that its search engine ranking would eventually increase. In directory submissions, there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. It should be noted that submitting to directories in not such an easy job in the sense that there are a lot of important decisions to make.
The first decision to make is choosing between free directories and paid directories. It is but a common inclination to go for anything that is for free. However, for the wise person, although economic implications are considered, the longevity aspect is also considered. Successful websites are not built overnight. Some even took years for their websites to be fully established, such that if one intends to have the same result, a long term plan should be considered. In order for ones’ website to be established, one should think of directories that do not just disappear after a year or so. Free directories usually disappear after a year or so, making the submission short lived and unstable.
The second decision to make in directory submissions is determining the number of directories that one should be submitting to. There are practically no boundaries when it comes to submitting to directories. One can have as many or as few directories to submit to and still come out successful. It is more important to plan out a time frame, and budget for the directory submission and start from there. Submitting to directories over the identified time frame and certain budget range would identify the number of directories that one would be submitting to. These are some of the factors that would dictate the number of directories for submission.
The third decision is deciding on the directories to which one would be submitting to. As there are a lot of directories in the World Wide Web, choosing the ones that are effective would be quiet difficult. However, there are some glaring signs that one should watch out for. The first of these glaring signs is the page ranking of the directory. This does not mean however that only those directories that have a page rank produce results, because there are also directories with no page rank, but have high values. In is true though that directories with high page ranks are those that are worth submitting to. These directories have proven their worth already and have maintained their credibility over time. Therefore in submitting to directories, wise judgment is definitely essential.
